Georgia Urban Agricultural Council (UAC)
The Challenge:
The Georgia Environmental Protection Division (EPD) mandated the use of a registration program to limit water usage, including a ban on watering new landscapes. The Georgia Urban Agriculture Council (UAC) had less than a month to develop an educational component of the registration program. Rapid deployment of an online portal was crucial to educate and license consumers by the springtime deadline.
WCW Solution:
The Georgia UAC teamed up with Web Courseworks, an eLearning Service Provider, to offer the Outdoor Water Use Registration Program through the CourseStage LMS platform. We rapidly customized the CourseStage LMS to meet their needs.
While Georgia residents have the alternative to view the slideshow and take the quiz for free at a county extensions service office, more than 97% of certifications completed so far have been through the online portal at http://www.urbanagcouncil.com/.
"Using the Internet is an efficient and fast, superior way to go about this," said Bret Bowlin of Georgia UAC. By using eLearning, the state of Georgia has been able to educate and license over 13,000 people on water conservation in less than 90 days.
Magna Publications
The Challenge:
Magna Publications is a publisher of print and electronic media for higher education associations and institutions. In summer 2008, Magna chose Web Courseworks’ CourseStage platform to expand and improve its Webinar offerings.
WCW Solution:
The first course delivered through the portal was Campus Safety 101, an eCourse for faculty that incorporates six traditional Webinars. Added value comes from custom case studies, learner-to-learner discussion forums, quizzes, and a final exam. The eCourse culminates in a certification in managing distressed behavior in the college classroom. Since the completion of this project, Magna has begun production on two more eLearning projects: on leadership for residential advisors, and on designing quality online courses for higher education faculty.
